Gdynia (pronounced gar-din-ee-uh) is a Polish city and seaport situated in Gdañsk Bay on the south coast of the Baltic Sea. Gdynia offers many interesting attractions to holiday-makers as well as well-priced shopping opportunities.

We have a range of interesting excursion packages for Gdynia, designed to offer an introduction to this region and to ensure cruise passengers the best deals on all the main sights. For an enjoyable day off the ship, leave your luxury MSC cruise liner in Gdynia Port and take a short bus ride to Gdansk (also known by its German name of ‘Dantzig’).

Join us on a sightseeing tour of Gdansk old town, an architectural melting pot of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles. Or enjoy some free time and discover the city at your leisure. Polish amber is of particularly high quality and makes for a lovely souvenir at a good price.

Families travelling with children can venture beyond the old town to the lovely Oliwa Park (located near Oliwa Cathedral), a tranquil green space with an attractive duck pond, or visit Gdansk Zoo (with a petting zoo) one of the largest zoological gardens in Poland. Just 60 km from Gdansk lies Marlbork Castle, a medieval storybook fortress complete with a moat and turrets.

All the rooms are renovated and depict the Teutonic way of life; military enthusiasts can admire the exhibits of weaponry and armour. Gdynia is one of the lesser-known vacation spots along our Northern European cruise itineraries; MSC Cruises is delighted to be able to introduce our passengers to this fascinating new destination.
